The German user organization Industrial Digital Twin Association e.V. (IDTA), which develops standards for digital twins for the entire industry, and the association Federtec, representing companies in the field of fluid technology, mechanical power transmission, and automation of industrial processes in Italy, agree to collaborate.

Both organizations have now signed a memorandum of understanding for cooperation and pooling of competencies. The members of both cooperation partners are heavily involved in the standardization of digitization projects on an international level and cover a wide range of industries. This ideally positions them to advance industrial automation and address global challenges of technological innovations.

The following activities have been agreed:

  • Development of topics that are of interest for close collaboration between both organizations.
  • Exchange of representatives from both organizations at meetings and events.
  • Participation in joint activities on selected topics.
  • Coordination and collaboration in providing information and materials to the public.
  • Joint promotional activities, such as joint press releases or mutual participation in each other's events.
  • Exchange of information and publications, as well as alignment of common topics.
  • Mutual reporting on the current status and coordination at the leadership level to ensure that the approaches are complementary and duplication of work is avoided.
Our aim at IDTA is to establish the AAS for the entire lifecycle of every asset in the industry and make it an international standard. Therefore, international dissemination is crucial, and we are collaborating with more and more organizations from the industry worldwide. We are pleased to sign this agreement with Federtec, thus creating a broad industry network in the Italian market to communicate the benefits of the AAS, connect players in the automation industry with similar interests, and strengthen expertise in the area of open-source technology.

Dr. Matthias Bölke, Chairman of the IDTA
