Opel will take part in the Formula E World Championship for the first time in the 2026/2027 season. Under the name "Opel GSE Formula E Team", the all-electric GSE models will primarily benefit from the media attention.

Opel will premiere the new "GEN4" (4th generation) Formula E cars in the coming season. The all-electric race cars will achieve a peak output of up to 600 kW (816 hp) in qualifying and attack mode— 250 kW (340 hp) more than before. A permanent all-wheel drive system will provide more grip and the car's range will also be increased. According to Opel, the team will also be working with Stellantis Motorsport.

"Participation in Formula E marks a new milestone for Opel on the road to an electric future," says Opel CEO Florian Hüttl. "As a strong German brand with a fresh, bold image, Opel brings a new dynamic to the competitive field," adds Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds.
