MAN Truck & Bus has secured an order for 84 city buses. According to the manufacturer, the urban transport company in Valencia will receive 57 fully electric Lion’s City 12 E buses and 27 Lion’s City 18 buses with hybrid drives. According to MAN, this is the largest order in Spain to date. The order value is reported to be around €50 million (approximately $54 million), which includes the vehicles and their maintenance. MAN will deliver the buses starting at the end of 2026.

The city of Valencia aims to modernize its bus fleet and reduce local emissions. In total, the city issued a tender for 161 buses. Valencia is investing approximately €170 million (approximately $183 million) to purchase 218 new electric and hybrid buses by 2028. By 2027, the proportion of diesel-powered buses is expected to decline to below seven percent.

According to MAN, over 2,500 buses from the Lion’s City E family have been operating in Europe for six years, covering more than 100 million kilometers. In the first quarter of 2025, MAN sold 283 electric buses—more than half of the city buses sold by the manufacturer in Europe.
