LEM has launched two new research and development centers in Munich (Germany) and Shanghai (China) to meet the rising global demand for precise current and voltage measurement. This surge is fueled by the increasing electrification and the push to reduce CO2 emissions.

At the Munich site, the new center will concentrate on the design of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and semiconductor technologies. This focus should enable the employees at LEM to develop integrated current sensors (ICS) more quickly and bring them to market. Under the leadership of Matthias Tänzer, the Munich team will work closely with the existing ICS team in Geneva (Switzerland). The site is currently staffed with ten employees, with plans to expand the workforce in line with the company's growth plans.

The 1,400 m² facility in Shanghai is equipped with modern laboratory equipment and already employs 30 people. This number is set to more than double in the future. The site will cooperate closely with the existing R&D center in Beijing in order to serve customers in China faster and more efficiently.

As a leader in electrical measurement technology, we are convinced that integrated current sensing is an essential part of our future growth and competitive advantage. It is essential that we have an ICS offering that meets the needs of our customers. The new R&D center in Munich enables us to accelerate IC design and offer a broad ICS portfolio.

These two new R&D centers complement LEM's recently opened state-of-the-art factory in Malaysia and the R&D site in Lyon, France, which opened in 2017. Together with the Sofia-based team, now operating from a new office in the city center, they strengthen LEM's global R&D network. (heh)
