The shortage of skilled workers is increasingly noticeable, as also noted by AMB exhibitor Kuka. However, increased automation can help alleviate this in metalworking, for instance, in loading and unloading pallets, transporting to the machining tool, and in the machining and deburring of workpieces. Therefore, Kuka and its partners in the Mobility Area are showcasing how the interplay of robotics and machine tools is advancing metalworking. For example, WMS-Engineering GmbH demonstrates automated deburring of components using the compact KR Iontec 50, while Mairoflex's Mairoflex-Cybertech shows that it is the multifunctional among robots, as emphasized by Kuka. Besides quality control, it excels particularly in bin picking. For this, the robot specifically picks components from a bin to further process them, as explained by Kuka. In cooperation with BEC GmbH, trade show visitors can experience automatic tool change at the system named KMR iisy. A transport professional is also included, namely the KMP 1500P—an autonomous mobile platform that drives very reliably, it is said.

Three additional Kuka robots along with software in Stuttgart

Kuka is also bringing three more powerful robots to Stuttgart. One of them is the robust and flexible KR Quantec, which assists in palletizing or assembly. This robot variably applies its power. Then there is the KR Fortec ultra to experience, which is meant to be compact and maximally efficient. It significantly assists machine tools. And for high working speeds in a small space, there is the KR Agilus from Kuka, a versatile 6-axis robot for metalworking.

When it comes to software innovations, things are intuitive, fast, and smooth. Kuka robot systems can be integrated with the software "Kuka.PLC mxAutomation". Through the interface, the robots are programmable and operable in the familiar control environment. The data-based automation in operation is facilitated by the intelligent software platform Kuka-iiQoT. This platform consolidates information related to plant management, maintenance, fault detection, and condition monitoring. The data is then displayed in a clear and user-friendly dashboard.

Trade show visitors will also see Kuka's comprehensive product and service portfolio, which, according to the AMB exhibitor, optimally supports users in all lifecycle phases of their facilities. This ranges from planning and commissioning to service and second life. The respective Kuka team that assists in plant planning and advises on maintenance and service packages will be available at the exhibition stand.
