Ather Energy was founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, two graduates of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. In 2018, the company launched India's first truly smart electric scooter - the Ather 450, followed by the new flagship Ather 450X in 2020, the 450S in 2023, and the Ather special edition Ather 450 Apex in January 2024.

In addition, Ather has installed a comprehensive public charging network named Ather Grid, which was developed and built in India. With over 1,600 charging points across India, Ather Grid is one of the largest fast-charging networks for electric scooters in India. The company currently has more than 175 experience centers across India and plans to open a total of 250 sales outlets by March 2024. Ather has recently entered the international market, opening two experience centers in Nepal.

In the rapidly evolving EV industry, speed to market is a key lever for success. Siemens' advanced PLM management enables parallel processing of engineering services, moving away from a sequential approach. This shortens the lead time for the introduction of new products and functions.

Accelerate design and development cycles

Ather Energy introduced the PLM solution Teamcenter in 2018 to achieve key performance indicators (KPIs). These include faster time to market, shortening of design and development cycles through the elimination of design iterations, and the application of a Right-First-Time approach. Since then, Ather Energy's team has also been using Simcenter Star-CCM+ for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Simcenter for physical testing. With these solutions, the company supported its internal testing system for durability and noise, vibration, and harness behavior (NVH). Recently, Ather Energy's vehicle development team also implemented NX for the development of new products and engineering across all existing and new vehicle platforms.

Simulations and virtual tests that we perform with the Siemens tools allow us to optimize scheduling and achieve significant savings in resources and money for repeated testing. Stack-up analysis allows us to get the design right the first time and avoid engineering changes.
