The industrial automation specialist Destaco has been part of the Stabilus Group since spring 2024, thus complementing the product range of Stabilus. In automation, for example, the cooperation with Stabilus' expert brand ACE creates new opportunities for users.
Sustainably modernize and optimize entire production lines with the combined capabilities of ACE and Destaco.

Products of the Stabilus Group, such as industrial gas springs, industrial dampers, and air springs, are known for regulating speeds, controlling movement sequences, precisely braking mass forces, and damping vibrations. Destaco has made a name with manual clamps, power clamps, and end-of-arm tools for robotics, as well as with grippers and indexers for automation. The combination of these solutions leads to an unprecedented range of innovative products and consulting services from a single source. This not only increases productivity for companies in the manufacturing industry: entire production lines can also be sustainably modernized and optimized based on the technologies now available in the Stabilus Group.

How the components from ACE and Destaco work together in automobile manufacturing is shown in various phases of the manufacturing process and in different assembly environments in automotive production. For instance, the high-quality solutions play an important role in body assembly and ensure both efficiency and quality in automated welding and fastening of vehicle parts. In precise positioning processes, Destaco's manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric clamps ensure reliable holding of the body components in place. Additionally, electrically or pneumatically operated grippers and sheet metal grippers from the same manufacturer contribute to handling with precise movements.
Shock absorbers absorb kinetic energy
When the industrial robot swivels to the workpiece to set the programmed welding point during these work steps, it is an industrial shock absorber from ACE that absorbs the kinetic energy of this movement. This ensures, on one hand, that the robot stops at the exact same position during each shift and cycle to ensure the desired precise connection. On the other hand, the rebound-free deceleration of the hydraulically and thus electrically independent dampers not only reduces cycle times but also wear processes inside and outside the robot, as well as energy costs, because no compressed air for pneumatic end-position damping is accounted for. In addition, both the adjustable and self-adjusting industrial shock absorbers from ACE prevent the transmission of unwanted mass forces to the body, which would impair the welding quality.
Solutions from Stabilus also provide valuable, time and effort-saving services during the so-called "marriage" in automobile manufacturing, the installation and connection of the powertrain including the engine and transmission with the body. Various positioning systems from Destaco are suitable for this. From the company's basic and building linear units and swivel units to mechanical or servo rotary tables and couplings for diverse requirements and loads, they always ensure the precise placement of the engine in the chassis. Industrial gas pressure and gas tension springs from ACE take on tasks that support or replace the operator's muscle power by additionally facilitating the controlled lowering of the engine into the engine compartment. This way, damage or misalignment during installation can be prevented.
Solutions for mechanical and plant engineering
In the context of the manufacturing processes described here as well as in many other areas of industrial automation, the combination of clamping, gripping, and positioning systems from Destaco with the leading technologies and services in industrial damping and vibration technology from ACE can lead to highly efficient and high-quality solutions in machine and plant engineering. Thus, customers of the Stabilus Group benefit not only in the field of automobile manufacturing from advantages such as lower scrap rates, fewer damages, and higher production reliability. They also now have access to a new, powerful offering that provides components for future-proof, quality-oriented automated assembly lines from a single source.
This offering is unique because the bundling of ACE's and Destaco's competencies results in an extraordinarily comprehensive damping and automation portfolio. Similar added value is promised by the other expert brands of the Stabilus Group. For example, Hahn Gasfeder GmbH stands for top quality in the field of gas pressure and gas tension springs, as well as with other components for speed regulation, combined with high manufacturing flexibility, which can be demonstrated even with any special requirements. The same applies to Fabreeka, the specialist in vibration isolation, whose products and consulting services provide extraordinary added value and flexibility in response to corresponding customer requirements.
Worldwide service
All in all, the services brought together under the umbrella of Stabilus in sales, engineering, and warehousing result in an unprecedented presence for customers worldwide. Accordingly, Stabilus aims for the best global service for industrial customers, achieved in part by providing each customer with a personal contact person on the sales side who is available for all automation solutions and ensures quick response times both externally and internally. This high-quality and individual service offering is complemented by calculation software and configuration tools available online at all times, free consulting services from sales engineers, and telephone customer support for tailored solutions.
