Analyze and compare plastic injection molding products

As part of its ECO-consulting service, Barlog Plastics offers a new resource for evaluating and minimizing the CO2 footprint of plastic products. This tool allows for an early estimation of the carbon footprint with regard to material, production process (focus on plastic injection molding) up to the transport of the product and enables an analysis and comparison of data bases for different product variants. Development engineers can thus be supported in product development towards sustainability.

With our new PCF tool, we are setting an important milestone towards sustainable product development and offering our customers a data-based foundation to make their products more environmentally friendly. We are convinced that this tool will not only open our customers' eyes to sustainable material alternatives, but also accelerate the development process from idea to series of individual components towards more efficient and sustainable plastic products.

Document CO2 footprint with calculation tool

The new EU CSRD directive on sustainability reporting has been requiring many large companies to document more information about the ecological footprint of their production than was previously the case since the beginning of this year. To facilitate this, Carmo has developed a calculation tool called Carmo Carbon Footprint Calculator.

Users can accurately calculate and document how the individual areas of production contribute to the total CO2 footprint of a product. This includes the climate impact of the electricity consumed by the machines, the transport emissions and the production of the raw materials, as well as the amount of production residues that will have resulted from the finished product. The tool provides customers with design suggestions and improvements. Furthermore, changes can be simulated using the CO2 calculation method.

PCF software for the manufacturing middle class

With the PCF Monitor, Greenable has developed a software to calculate the CO2 footprint of products.

Greenable's PCF software was developed for medium-sized businesses and significantly simplifies the calculation. Compared to traditional, often custom-made spreadsheet solutions, the solution is significantly faster and more cost-effective. Among other things, it links materials, transport emissions, production steps and the energy mix, and calculates the CO2 emissions based on algorithms. The software offers a comprehensive calculation of product-specific CO2 footprints as well as valuable insights into production and supply chain.

From CAD model to footprint

The Classmate Plan software from Simus Systems calculates both the future manufacturing costs and the Product Carbon Footprint of mechanically manufactured components and assemblies including post-treatment. The relevant data are automatically sourced from individually adjustable raw material and technology databases and are available already during the construction of components.

For each CAD model, the manufacturing costs are displayed according to batch sizes, including the cost drivers. Likewise, the processing-related energy consumption is displayed according to the current energy mix, and the emission influence is represented. The different machine states during production are taken into account. With clear representations, cost and environmentally conscious product development is achieved without additional effort.
