Wärtsilä has been a reliable local service partner for Flender products and related services in Brazil for many years. Now, Flender intends to acquire the company. The contract has already been signed. Furthermore, the subsidiary Flender Brasil Ltda. has been established to take over the assets upon completion of the transaction, pending approval from the Brazilian competition authority CADE (end of 2025 or early 2026).

Flender Focuses on Growth in Wind Power

Until the transaction is completed, Flender and Wärtsilä will continue to operate as separate, independent companies without any changes for customers, suppliers, prices, or personnel, according to the statement. Upon completion of the acquisition, the gearbox service business, including its service facility in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, will also be transferred. Opened in 2022, the facility spans 5,000 square meters and is equipped with several overhead cranes and testing capabilities for wind turbine gearboxes. It is the first facility in Latin America with such capacity. With this, Flender aims to establish a solid foundation for service activities primarily focused on the significant installed base of wind energy turbines in the region, while also driving growth. Wärtsilä will also remain present at the facility to continue its marine and energy business operations.
