The advancing global electrification is bringing comprehensive changes to the energy infrastructure—for companies as well as for society as a whole. On the path to the All Electric Society, an electrified and digitalized society, various regulatory and technical hurdles still need to be overcome.
The demanding energy distribution in data centers requires both customized and scalable solutions—requirements that Wöhner can meet with its experience and products.

It's not just about using energy efficiently and ensuring supply security but also about tapping into new application areas. Digitalization is particularly driving the construction of data centers. The industry's growth remains strong: in Germany and worldwide, numerous new data centers are being built, which in the short and medium term will require massive additional energy for powering the racks as well as for cooling.
Against this backdrop, versatile and tailored solutions in energy distribution are becoming increasingly important. The strategic design of the control cabinet is taking center stage. As a specialist in this field, Wöhner offers technologically leading energy distribution systems that can be flexibly adapted to various scenarios in specific applications and deliver advantages at every project stage.
Busbar Systems As the Basis of Energy Distribution
At Wöhner, design-in is a standard part of the collaboration, which quickly transforms technical planning into a customized busbar design.

Planners and switchgear manufacturers are facing new challenges in energy management due to these increasing demands. Energy distribution must become more powerful and cost-efficient while reliably covering all applications—from traditional industrial plants to high-availability data centers. Wöhner consistently aligns the development of its product solutions with practical challenges. Its broad portfolio and additional services, such as design-in, are designed to simplify the planning of individual projects and thus provide the best possible support for implementation.
The busbar systems 60 Classic and Crossboard are central components for this purpose. They can each be used as standalone base technologies or in combination. Both systems have their individual advantages and complement each other perfectly when used together, with individuality, modularity, the highest safety requirements, and standardized interfaces playing a central role.
Ready-to-Use Out-of-the-Box Solution
The Crossboard is a cornerstone of Wöhner's portfolio as a ready-to-use out-of-the-box solution. Available in rated current levels of 125 A, 250 A, and 800 A, the recently introduced 800 A variant enables compact and simple power distribution—from control and automation technology to main distributions for data centers. Thanks to integrated touch protection, working under voltage, and thus without operational interruption, is even possible. The standardized design and modularity allow a once-planned configuration to be installed in large quantities with little effort, paving the way for scaling large projects. The planning process is simplified by a minimal parts list for the complete busbar system and the elimination of short-circuit calculations. Assembly effort is reduced to only about one-third compared to conventional busbar systems, thanks to the pre-assembled system and largely tool-free connection options for the components.
System for Customized Solutions
The 60 Classic busbar system is a cornerstone of Wöhner's extensive product portfolio and is considered a highly customized system.

The System 60 Classic, on the other hand, allows for customized solutions. Components are intelligently, space-efficiently, and modularly mounted on the 2.4 inches platform and installed individually. The system design enables the implementation of busbar systems across multiple control cabinets, with longitudinal connectors ensuring the connections. The fully assembled system is also completely touch-protected, thanks to components with integrated rear-touch protection and additional coverings, such as for reserve slots. The busbars, with cross-sections ranging from 0.1 to 2.5 square inches, make the system an all-rounder for all applications.
Flexible Systems That Grow With You
The 60 Classic and Crossboard systems can be profitably combined. For main distributions and high-power outputs, either the 60 Classic or Crossboard 800 A is recommended, while the Crossboard in the 125 A or 250 A versions is particularly suitable for control and automation technology where only smaller loads are connected. Both systems are designed for both AC and DC applications. This creates a seamless system environment that can be integrated and is continuously developed by Wöhner. The standard certification according to IEC, UL, and CCC also provides export-oriented companies with the added value of being able to use and export a unified control cabinet design in their global business.
Easy Etrofitting During Operation
The modular busbar systems also enable easy retrofitting during operation. By incorporating pre-planned spaces in the control cabinet and plug-in solutions, components can be easily added on-site, preserving business flexibility. The increasing compatibility within the portfolio—for example, the development of new Crossboard components also for the 60 Classic and the ability to merge the system environments through Crosslink adapters—further supports this approach. Wöhner's system advantages are noticeable at every project stage: they simplify planning, accelerate commissioning, and can be easily replicated and retrofitted. This allows for solutions that grow with operational requirements.
