A new 800-ton servo press from Nidec Arisa with a high-dynamic transfer system is ensuring capacity expansion at the Craemer Group's German plant in Attendorn (Germany). In the field of metal forming, Craemer develops, designs, and manufactures precision stamped and formed parts. With the mass production of metal components, it is one of the leading international suppliers to various industries such as automotive, fittings, household appliances, and heating appliances.

The Attendorn plant, a long-time supplier to the international automotive industry, has been part of the Craemer Group since 2015 as a metal processing subsidiary. At the Attendorn location, the production focus is on precision stamped parts for automobiles, such as belt system components and fittings and connecting elements for seat structures. The products, weighing between 10 and 500 grams, are now supplied to automotive suppliers as well as producers of white goods, the fittings industry, and other sectors in Europe, Asia, and South America.

The Arisa servo press S-2-800-400-180-SP, with a press force of 8000 kilonewtons (equivalent to 800 tons) and a table length of 4 meters (approx. 13 ft), has been expanding the capacities in the upper press force range for two years. "The materials are becoming increasingly stronger," explains Thomas Burholt, Managing Director of Craemer Attendorn GmbH & Co. KG, "therefore, higher press force is needed for forming metal parts." The machinery currently includes seven modern presses with forces between 315 and 800 tons, and table lengths from two and a half to four meters—capable of processing sheets up to five millimeters thick from steel or non-ferrous metals.

Global Customer Service Network

Burholt also emphasizes the service offerings: "To achieve compatibility with the existing machinery, Arisa also customized the standard press to our needs, including the coil inlet for the transfer, the table size, and the installation height." The 800-ton press has also proven itself because the peripheral devices are fully integrated into the control system.

"This simplifies the operation and the process, as all threads come together in one place," says the Attendorn Managing Director, "accordingly, the employees were comprehensively trained in an Arisa workshop to be able to use the press optimally," he adds. Other advantages include Arisa's globally established customer service network and the fact that "many standard components of the press are easily obtainable."
