Under the motto "Sharing the Future", Chinese car manufacturer ChangAn presented its vision of electromobility on March 21, 2025. At the Pyramide Mainz (Germany), the company not only presented its plans for Europe, but also brought various vehicle models with it. The focus was on the Deepal S07, the first vehicle model available in European countries.

In Europe, for Europe—this approach was emphasized by Zhu Huarong, ChangAn's Chairman, in his keynote speech at the company's official entry into the European market. However, the company is not entirely unknown in Europe, having established its first European design center in Turin in 2003. Other branches followed, such as the research and development center founded in Nottingham in 2010. Last year, the Chinese officially registered their subsidiary, which serves as the European sales headquarters.
Focus on Partnerships
Partnerships are important for the car manufacturer. The official well-wishers included companies such as Bosch, Continental, Webasto, Schaeffler, Infineon and NXP, to name but a few. "ChangAn is an open and partnership-oriented company with a clear mission: to promote sustainable mobility and enrich human life," emphasized Zhu Huarong.
As part of its European market entry strategy, ChangAn plans to expand its dealer partnerships from around 100 dealers in 10 European countries by the end of 2025 to more than 1,000 by the end of 2030. To this end, the company has signed letters of intent with various dealers in Portugal, Greece and other countries and concluded distribution agreements in Scandinavia. In Germany, the Netherlands and the UK, ChangAn Automobile will operate its own national sales companies through a network of partners to sell vehicles and provide customer service. In the UK, the company plans to open up to 60 showrooms by the end of 2025 and has signed a memorandum of understanding with a dealer group to provide various services to UK customers.
In addition, ChangAn is setting up its first European spare parts hub in the Netherlands, which will serve as a central distribution point for the dealer and service network. In this context, the car manufacturer has signed a cooperation agreement with Kühne+Nagel. The Chinese company has also signed a cooperation agreement with Allianz Partners.
Deepal S07 elebrates its European remiere
The Changan Deepal S07 celebrated its European premiere in Mainz. The vehicle is an all-electric SUV which—as proudly emphasized—has received a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. In addition, the company plans to launch further vehicle models in Europe, as Zhu Huarong announced: "Over the next three years, we will launch eight models on the market, each tailored to the different needs of our customers."
The vehicle was developed at the company's Italian Design Center in Turin and designed with "European tastes in terms of looks and driving dynamics" in mind. The Deepal S07 has narrow headlights with daytime running light signature and a continuous LED strip at the rear. In addition to its looks, it impresses above all with its technical features such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155, which ensures smooth operation of the infotainment system. A 15.6-inch touchscreen is located in the center of the dashboard, which can be turned towards the driver or the front passenger. Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto are integrated into the software.

In addition, the Stromer is equipped with an augmented reality head-up display that projects important information such as speed, navigation instructions and safety warnings directly into the driver's field of vision. Intelligent gesture control, a 360-degree camera with a transparent chassis view when parking and numerous driver assistance systems support Level 2 automated driving, including IACC, a lane departure warning system, traffic sign recognition and automatic emergency braking.
Range of up to 475 km (Approx. 295 Miles) According to WLTP
The Deepal S07 is equipped with a 79.97 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a range of up to 475 km (WLTP). Thanks to the fast-charging function with up to 93 kW, the battery can be charged from 30 to 80 percent in just over half an hour at a fast-charging station. In addition, the vehicle has an AI diagnostic algorithm developed in-house that enables 24-hour monitoring of the battery voltage and temperature.
The electric motor accelerates from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 7.9 seconds. The purely electric drive system offers a maximum output of 217 hp and a maximum torque of 320 Nm. The market launch is scheduled for the second quarter of 2025 in Norway, Denmark, Germany and the Netherlands.
Addressing the Luxury Market with Avatr
In addition to Changan and Deepal, the car manufacturer wants to position a third brand in Europe with Avatr. The brand name is—obviously—derived from the English word "avatar", which means embodiment, the virtual character in games or the digital world. The aim here is to enable every user to create a different self in an intelligent parallel world. The first models available in Europe are the Avatr 11 and 12, designed by Nader Faghihzadeh, who worked as Creative Director for BMW for many years.

Software-Defined Architecture
The Chinese car manufacturer gave an insight into its technologies in Mainz. For example, it introduced interested parties to its software-defined architecture, which it claims transforms vehicles into intelligent driving ecosystems. Thanks to Smart Brain, this has cognitive capabilities and is equipped with Smart Body systems and Smart Service solutions. The manufacturer complements this with advanced manufacturing processes and an e-drive assembly that boasts 163 patents and 95 percent efficiency.
The car manufacturer also showcased its drive systems. The company's three dedicated EV platforms—EPA0, EPA1 and the CHN platform—form the basis of its electric vehicle strategy. ChangAn highlighted its electric dual-motor system, which achieves a fuel-to-electricity conversion rate of 3.63 kWh per liter in range-extender mode. At its core is the New Blue Core technology, which the company claims achieves a thermal efficiency of 44.28 percent through its 500-bar ultra-high-pressure fuel injection system and proprietary high-energy ignition technology.
The Golden Shield battery brand was also recently introduced. In addition, ChangAn's hydrogen fuel cell system achieves efficiency with a hydrogen consumption of 0.65 kg per 100 kilometers (62 miles). (se)
