From summer 2026, BMW will be building the all-electric i3 at its main plant in Munich. The conversion of the plant was extensive—with some unconventional approaches.
From 2027, BMW intends to produce only purely electrically powered cars at its main plant in Munich. From August this year, the i3 will be the first model to roll off the production line; preparations at the plant have been underway for around four years - in parallel with production of the current 3 and 4 Series.
