Schneider Electric and Nvidia have jointly presented validated blueprints for AI data centers in the gigawatt range. According to a press release, the reference architectures aim to make the planning, construction and operation of large-scale AI infrastructures significantly more efficient and predictable.

The focus is on a new reference architecture for power supply and cooling based around Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 racks. Among other things, it relies on 480-volt power distribution, increased supply temperatures and optimized cluster layouts to increase performance and energy efficiency. The design was validated using simulation models for electrical systems as well as thermal and fluid mechanical analyses.

In parallel, Aveva and Nvidia are driving forward a lifecycle digital twin architecture. Based on Nvidia Omniverse, complete data centre designs can be virtually modelled, simulated and iteratively optimized. The aim is to shorten engineering cycles and increase implementation accuracy before physical infrastructure is built.

Schneider Electric is also testing an agent-based AI approach based on Nvidia Nemotron for alarm management. This analyzes real-time data across systems, identifies causes more quickly and suggests measures. This should reduce response times and further increase the operational reliability of highly automated data centers.
