With 1,500 exhibitors from 60 countries on 67,400 square meters, Messe Düsseldorf hosted the largest Wire in its almost 40-year history last week. As always, accompanied by the sister fair Tube, which reached approximately the level of the last fair edition before panemic (2018) with around 52,200 square meters and 1,200 exhibitors from 54 countries. Messe Düsseldorf did not provide information on visitor numbers.

This year, the trade fair duo has increasingly focused on energy efficiency and sustainability. The fact that the wire, cable and pipe industry, as well as its suppliers, are important for future energy-related challenges, was reflected in the exhibition halls, as Messe Düsseldorf reports.

For the first time, a supporting program of lectures, presentations, special shows and digital tours also flanked the exhibition. Special Areas and Digital Trails on hot topics such as Eco Metals, Hydrogen, Plastic Pipes, Separation, Cutting, Sawing and Stainless Steel informed about their news and trends, it continues.

Pipes and pipelines for renewable energies

"The trade fair duo is the place where the future of the wire and tube industry is actively shaped and we present the innovations of the last two years to our customers," says Dr.-Ing. Uwe-Peter Weigmann, spokesperson for the board of Wafios AG. "This year, our new developments met with an extremely positive response, which was also reflected in the high visitor numbers at our trade fair stand. In addition to new machine concepts, such as the transfer bending machine BQ10, the topic of "assisted machines" was particularly popular in the context of the shortage of skilled workers. They mainly support new employees in the setup process and independently take over individual process steps. With four levels, Wafios has created the foundation to classify machines with their supportive functions in the long term," Weigmann adds.

That the pipe industry is not only capable of large-scale operations, but also has convincing, sustainable concepts for the use of renewable energy and for reducing carbon dioxide, was clearly evident at the exhibition stands in exhibition halls 1 to 7.1. Because as different as the industries in which pipes and pipelines are used are, so individual are the requirements for the quality and nature of the material. In this context, plastic pipes are playing an increasingly important role, as shown in the Plastic Tubes & Pipes special area in Hall 1.
