Many factory projects for e-car batteries have been halted in Europe. Not so in China. The auto industry will therefore continue to be dependent on Chinese suppliers.
About a year ago, it looked as if new gigafactories would continue to sprout up like mushrooms in late summer—or perhaps like bamboo shoots in spring rain, when referring to China. The term "Gigafactory", once coined by Tesla and its linguistically creative CEO Elon Musk, refers to battery factories with a production capacity in the gigawatt range.
