Automotive supplier Webasto plans to open its third plant in India. The plant in the Delhi region is scheduled to go into operation in the fourth quarter of 2026. This was announced by Webasto CEO Jörg Buchheim during a visit to India. Webasto will be moving into an existing building and converting it in the coming months.

Sunroofs for India

Webasto wants to build sunroofs at the plant. According to the company, there is a strong demand for openable roofs in the country. The plant is located between Manesar and Kharkhoda in northern India. Webasto primarily wants to supply customers in this region. The people at the plant can produce around 500,000 units of so-called roof systems per year.

With all three plants in the country, Webasto says it can produce two million roofs per year. In total, Webasto has invested more than 120 million US dollars in the expansion of its Indian business since 2019; the supplier plans to invest 190 million US dollars by 2030.
