With the combination of fiber laser and additional processing unit, Voortman wants to bundle laser cutting, drilling and thread cutting in the V210 system.

The Voortman V210 extends the V353 by combining laser cutting speed and precision with processing versatility. The V210 extension adds drilling, tapping and routing to the V353 fiber laser configuration to enable complete sheet metal processing. This hybrid solution is aimed at contract cutters and system manufacturers who deliver production-ready products and at the same time strive for high efficiency and extensive automation for faster throughput.

Sheet Metal Processing In One System

The V353 is a large-format fiber laser that offers high speed, precision and high edge quality. Together with the V210 machine for sheet metal processing, the aim is to enable precise alignment between laser-cut and processed features. Stef Rohaan, Product Manager at Voortman, explains: "The V210 works as a separate gantry and runs simultaneously on the same table without compromising the laser quality. This extends the flexibility of the V353 and provides an integrated solution for sheet metal processing."

The V210 processes sheet metal with a thickness of up to 75 mm (approx. 3.0 in) and drills high-quality holes with a diameter of up to 50 mm (approx. 2.0 in) and threads up to M30. It has 28 tools for maximum flexibility, supported by an 8-position tool changer on the gantry for quick tool changes near the drill head and an optional 20-position tool changer for automated tool changes. The highly stable drill clamps suppress vibrations so that the high-torque spindle can develop its full power for better hole quality, longer tool life and no damage to the tips, says Voortman.

Developed for Contract Cutters and System Manufacturers

The process is fully automated, with only the loading of the sheets and removal of the finished products being carried out manually. Rohaan adds: "This configuration enables both high-mix small batch production and series production in one workflow. You can switch seamlessly between cutting and processing without moving the sheet. The result: faster throughput, less crane time and fewer unfinished products."

While most operations are performed by the laser, the V210 adds high-quality drilling, threading, countersinking and milled pockets to deliver production-ready parts. "This allows contract cutters and equipment manufacturers to act as true one-stop stores," summarizes Rohaan.
