The AI can "explain sights, report on past football tournaments, or help solve math problems. All of this works intuitively and in natural language," Volkswagen shares. Chat GPT is available in five languages at Volkswagen: English for the US and UK, Spanish, Czech, and German.

Users with an existing account for "VW Connect" or "VW Connect Plus" can use Chat GPT as usual using the "IDA" voice assistant. The digital assistant starts via the voice command "Hello IDA" or by pressing a button.

If Volkswagen's own system cannot answer a query, it is anonymously forwarded to the AI of Chat GPT. According to Volkswagen, the tool does not have access to the vehicle data.
