The testing organization exida has certified Vector's AUTOSAR basic software Microsar Classic Safe up to level ASIL D. Another focus was on proving that the manufacturer's basic software meets the safety requirements for availability in redundant systems. This allows the basic software to be used for functions of autonomous driving.

The testing organization of exida evaluates modules from various domains of basic software. They established their memory immunity and the correct implementation of the dedicated safety requirements that ensure the availability of redundant systems. For the first time, the assessors evaluated the analysis method newly introduced in the development of Microsar, which ensures upper limits for the execution time of the modules. The limitation of the execution time (worst-case execution time) ensures the permanent availability of control commands for steering and braking in autonomously driving vehicles.

ASIL D

In addition to the scope of the previous assessment, exida evaluated modules for communication via Ethernet and J1939, as well as modules for the secure separation of software across various microprocessor cores. This completes the portfolio for a continuous and powerful solution for safety-relevant control units. Thus, control unit developers receive all relevant modules of the AUTOSAR basic software from Vector with ASIL D for their safety-relevant projects.

Microsar Classic Safe was certified in 2016 as an AUTOSAR implementation according to ISO 26262 up to ASIL D. The second follow-up assessment has now taken place as scheduled. Vector also offers a safety-relevant solution up to ASIL D for high-performance control units that are based on AUTOSAR Adaptive. An independent certificate is planned for the end of the year. (se)
