US President Trump is changing course on electric cars, which is ruining business for the multi-brand car manufacturer Stellantis. The multi-brand group is feeling the consequences with a hefty financial loss of over 24 billion US dollars. The new boss now wants to take countermeasures, it is said. Ultimately, the impairment losses amounted to 28 billion US dollars for the year as a whole, as reported by dpa. But even adjusted for the special costs, the VW rival came under heavy pressure and was in the red in its day-to-day business due to the prevailing price pressure, both in North America, where the Group once made the lion's share of its profits with its pick-ups and SUVs, and in Europe.

Stellantis Will Probably Not Have Free Funds Again Until 2027

The new Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa had actually come in to get the group back on track after a home-made crisis in the USA. But now he has had to start a major clean-up, which experts fear will burden the Group with billions in payments for a long time. An inflow of free cash flow from the vehicle business is therefore not expected until 2027. Stellantis is now reducing its range of electric models and offering more combustion and mixed drives. Production and supply chains are also to be restructured. What exactly happened? Well, Donald Trump had cut subsidies for electric cars and changed emissions regulations. The other US car giants such as General Motors and Ford also had to say goodbye to many billions on their electric course.
