Ultimaker has introduced its new 3D printer, the Ultimaker S6. With printing speeds of up to 20 in/s and an acceleration of 2,000 in/s² , it achieves four times shorter printing times compared to the previous model.

A key focus in the development of the Ultimaker S6 was on increasing productivity. The dual extrusion capabilities ensure even higher efficiency and enable seamless printing with different materials. Since both print heads are supplied by a single material station, users can further maximize their system's uptime. The S6 is equipped with two build plates: a flexible plate for a wide range of applications, and a glass plate that is particularly suited for medical applications and food packaging, where the highest hygiene standards must be met.

Designed for maximum versatility, the device is backward compatible with the Ultimaker S5. The material stations, air managers, print cores, and materials are interchangeable within the entire S series. In larger manufacturing processes, previously sliced parts can be reused, allowing production to continue without recreating files. "We are thrilled with the new UltiMaker S6. It features the same build quality and reliability we've come to expect from our S5 printer over the past five years," says Erik Schwartz, owner/driver of Schwartz Off Road Motorsportz, USA. "Thanks to the higher print speeds of the S6, we can now work even faster and more flexibly. Downtime has very negative impacts on our time-critical design process. Our team simply cannot afford to wait days for a print or perform complex repairs. Now we can quickly make another design optimization before a race weekend if needed."

With the S6, we can offer our users more—more speed, more versatility, and more freedom—without having to start from scratch.

Optimize Workflows Across Teams And Zones

The S6 integrates seamlessly into Ultimaker's software, material, and hardware ecosystem, which is based on Ultimaker Cura and Ultimaker Digital Factory. With the Cura Cloud function available through Digital Factory, users can manage, slice, and print jobs from anywhere, optimizing their workflows across teams and zones. The S6 supports over 300 printing materials, allowing users to reliably execute almost any project.

"With the S6, we can offer our users more—more speed, more versatility, and more freedom—without having to start from scratch," says Marc Uyttenboogaard, Product Manager at Ultimaker. "We have retained all the qualities that users particularly appreciate about the S5 and further improved the device based on that. Thanks to the model's backward compatibility, our customers' investments are protected in the long term."
