For a long time, German mechanical engineering was the export world champion. It wasn't until 2020 that China surpassed us in this field. However, the reputation of machinery made in Germany is still excellent, and German engineering is sought after worldwide: In 2020, according to Statista, machinery and equipment worth 162 billion euros were sold abroad from Germany, representing 15.5 percent of the global foreign trade volume. In 2021, the total exports increased to 179 million euros, and the revenue in German mechanical engineering amounted to 221 billion euros.
