The art of metal cleaning

"Our core business used to be washing and maintenance. Small parts cleaners were specifically manufactured for cleaning mechanical components of cars and trucks, as well as for maintaining Olivetti typewriters," explains Matteo Caroli. Teknox has successfully evolved and now builds high-quality industrial washing machines and cleaning systems for a wide range of industries—from mechanical engineering, the mobility industry to pharmaceuticals, plastics, and food processing. The customers are primarily from Europe, but also from the USA, South America, and North Africa.

The material from which Teknox manufactures its systems is stainless steel. The steel plates are cut, processed, and then installed in the parts cleaning machines. The portfolio includes spray, high-pressure, and ultrasonic systems for manual, semi-automated, or fully automated operation. For cleaning the steel surfaces, Teknox has long used cleaning cloths from Mewa. "To preserve the immaculate finish and shine of the stainless steel, dirt must be removed without leaving scratches. Mewa's cleaning cloths protect the surfaces and leave no cleaning streaks. We are very satisfied with this solution," emphasizes Francesco Odorici, the company's Operation Manager.

Efficient, environmentally friendly process

"The reusable cleaning cloth system from Mewa ensures a more environmentally friendly and efficient workflow in our departments," explains Matteo Caroli. "We produce significantly less waste compared to using disposable materials. And our employees always have clean cleaning cloths at hand in the Safety Container." The CEO adds that the cloth depot has been increased to meet the demands of heightened production.

Workwear in comprehensive service

When Teknox considered relying on Mewa's service for work clothing three years ago, an initial trial run was conducted. Caroli: "Mewa offered us the opportunity for employees to try out some clothing items before we decided on the service. A survey was conducted afterward, and the feedback was consistently positive." Previously, clothing was purchased, and employees had to take care of washing and maintaining it themselves, Odorici adds. With Mewa's all-around service, clean clothing is always available in the employees' lockers. The dirty laundry is collected in fabric bags and picked up by Mewa for maintenance. "The overall appearance of the staff, and thus the company's image, has significantly improved as a result," Caroli assesses.

From the beginning, there was a good trust-based relationship between Teknox and Mewa: the family-owned companies are linked by their international orientation and a traditional values canon, where sustainability and careful resource management hold great importance. "It's important to us that the garments undergo environmentally friendly washing processes," confirms Caroli. "I had the opportunity to visit Mewa's location in Turbigo and was impressed by their focus on the environment." The good partnership also opened up another opportunity for collaboration: for a year now, a high-pressure cleaner from Teknox has complemented the all-around service offering of brush washing tables from Mewa. The Mewa HP parts cleaner, customized for Mewa by Teknox, does not use environmentally or health-hazardous substances and fits perfectly into Mewa's all-around service.
