The Ceratizit Division Hard Material Solutions has signed a sustainability target agreement with leading drive technology specialist Schaeffler from Herzogenaurach. In it, both parties have agreed on targets for wear protection products made of hard metal. This is a material that, due to its durability and reusability, reduces resource consumption over the entire product lifespan. With regard to the ecological footprint and further reduction of resource consumption, the Ceratizit tool portfolio also includes many premium hard metal grades made from recycled hard metal powder. These are known for a particularly low CO2 footprint. Schaeffler assumes ecological and social responsibility along the entire value chain.

Sustainability Strategy as a Corporate Basis

As already mentioned above, this is the second collaboration between the two companies in the field of sustainability. A first agreement had already been successfully and continuously implemented by Ceratizit. It focused on the sustainable development and production of high-precision machining tools. Initial results also showed lower PCF (Product Carbon Footprint) values across the entire portfolio. Ceratizit's ambitious sustainability strategy and the progress made in recent years motivated them to meet the requirements of the agreement with Schaeffler. For example, CO2 emissions were reduced by a good quarter (22 percent) by 2023 compared to 2020. Another key aspect of the agreement is transparency, which Ceratizit's Product Carbon Footprint information provides. This applies both to the machining tools themselves and to wear protection measures on them.
