Many companies leave valuable machine data unused because they shy away from high costs and long runtimes. A new initiative from Easy IoT is now offering 100 companies a risk-free introduction to networked production, including hardware and cloud connection.

Modern systems produce data on speeds, temperatures or energy consumption every second. However, this information often remains where it is generated: in the machine's control system. The path to the cloud or a central evaluation seems too rocky for many medium-sized companies. High investment hurdles, complex IT structures and months-long project phases often slow down progress before the first sensor is installed.

The company Concept Electronic is now launching an attempt to overcome this blockade under its Easy IoT brand: 100 industrial companies are being given free access to the Internet of Things (IoT). The package not only includes advice, but also the necessary technology: a gateway establishes the connection to the machine, the cloud connection ensures data transport, and a visualization prepares the figures so that they are understandable for everyone.

Fast Results Instead of Endless Planning

The focus of the campaign is on speed. Instead of drafting complex strategy papers, the first results should appear within a few days. Companies can use the technology to optimize processes, permanently monitor the condition of their systems or analyze their energy consumption in detail. The aim is to make the benefits of digitalization immediately tangible.

Markus Kessler, Managing Director of the provider, sees the inertia of many projects as the biggest obstacle for SMEs. He sums up the initiative's philosophy: "Industrial IoT shouldn't be a major project that takes months. We want to show that productive solutions can also be implemented quickly, transparently and without risk," explains Kessler. The inhibition threshold should be as low as possible, which is why participation in the initiative is initially non-binding. Only when the free period has expired do the companies decide whether they want to continue operating the systems.

Two Decades of Experience in Industrial Electronics

Behind the young name Easy IoT is not a classic software start-up that only knows industrial reality from textbooks. The company is an offshoot of Concept Electronic, which has been operating on the market for almost 20 years. In Leopoldshöhe, the parent company has been developing and producing highly integrated industrial electronics in-house for two decades. This experience in hardware development should ensure that the IoT solutions can withstand the tough conditions in production and can be seamlessly integrated into existing systems. (mc)
