With education increasingly moving towards e-learning, smart lockers help colleges and K-12 schools secure laptops and other costly assets for student checkout. iLockerz needed a secure access control solution for their clients in education and other sectors, including logistics, retail, healthcare and emergency services. Laptops are no longer optional for education: in 2021, more than 60% of learning happened online. Students need laptops to complete assignments, access learning resources on the internet or in the learning management system, and connect with teachers and classmates. For students who don’t have their own devices, many schools and campuses make laptops and other equipment available for checkout. iLockerz makes smart locker systems to support secure checkout of expensive assets. Their locker systems are used not only on campus but also for scanner management in the retail and logistics sector, to facilitate drug vending or iPad management in healthcare, and to secure radios and body cameras for Emergency Service teams, among other applications. Integrated in-locker charging capabilities make their lockers ideal for securing electronic equipment.

ELATEC TWN4 Slim Enhances iLockerz with Universal Access and Security

The ELATEC TWN4 Slim lines provided the perfect solution. The readers are slim and easy to integrate into the smart locker system. At the same time, the readers are powerful enough to support all their required functionality. The multitech readers work with 60+ RFID transponder technologies worldwide, plus smartphone technologies powered by Bluetooth® Low Energy (BLE) or Near-Field Communication (NFC).
This allows the lockers to be used with any card or smartphone technologies already in place with their end-users, so students, faculty or employees won’t need to carry a separate card to open the lockers.
