With the Sinumerik Machine Tool Robot, Siemens expands the Sinumerik Run MyRobot /Direct Control solution with new functions and robot types. The Sinumerik MTR is based on an intelligent control concept that imparts industrial robots with properties of machine tools. This enables highly precise path applications, even when machining hard and tough materials like steel, which increase machining forces and require more damping. Compared to conventional industrial robots, the Sinumerik MTR offers 200 to 300 percent increased path accuracy and significantly higher dynamic stiffness to meet these challenges.

These properties make the Sinumerik MTR ideal for industries such as Aerospace and Defense, Automotive, and many other high-precision robot applications, including the post-processing of 3D printed metal parts. In addition to improved accuracy, the new control concept brings a productivity increase of 20 to 40 percent. This makes the Sinumerik MTR attractive for applications without process forces, such as waterjet cutting and laser cutting. The Sinumerik MTR is controlled by Siemens' "Digital Native CNC" Sinumerik One. With its digital twin, it is the key element for digital transformation and helps to fully simulate and test work processes virtually.

The first partners to integrate the Sinumerik MTR into their robots are Autonox and Danobat. Autonox Robotics is a long-standing partner of the Sinumerik Run MyRobot ecosystem. The company is known for its robotic solutions used in numerous industries worldwide. Autonox offers its customers more precise and efficient processing solutions through specialized CNC robot mechanics.

Danobat, an international consortium and new partner of Siemens, offers a portfolio of MTR robots ranging from a compact version with a payload of up to 220 kilograms and a reach of 2.6 meters (approx. 8,5 ft) to a robust model with a payload of up to 520 kilograms and a reach of 3.6 meters (approx. 11,8 ft). These robots combine the precision and stability of a machine tool with the agility and flexibility of a six-axis robot, opening up new manufacturing possibilities for demanding industries such as aerospace, electromobility, and energy.
