The energy transition requires new technical ideas for the decarbonization of the process industry, which Sick intends to drive forward with Endress+Hauser with combined forces. The letter of intent was signed at the end of last year. The current signing thus seals the strategic partnership to better support users and accompany the sustainable transformation of the process industry. The collaboration also includes the establishment of a joint venture, which will strengthen and expand the range of systems for decarbonization, as further stated. Both want to hold 50 percent shares each. The entire deal also includes the transition of sales and service for process automation from Sick to Endress+Hauser.

Everything is set to start at the turn of the year

The portfolios of both partners are complementary, offering users more options. Subject to antitrust approval, the joint venture is expected to commence operations at the turn of the year 2024/2025. Sick's strong core business in factory and logistics automation, which generates over 80 percent of its revenue, remains unaffected by the agreed merger with Endress+Hauser and is even expected to benefit from a stronger focus. Sick develops, manufactures, and distributes analytical applications in the "Cleaner Industries" business unit, such as in the area of emission control from traditional energy sources. And with "intelligent" solutions for waste incineration plants, power, steel, and cement plants, as well as for chemical and maritime applications, Sick has been making an important contribution to a better environment for decades. Endress+Hauser is known for its measurement and automation systems for process engineering and laboratories.
