Motek has been an annual trade fair for production and assembly automation. The adhesive technology trade fair Bondexpo was held in the same cycle. Now, the event organizer P. E. Schall has announced that these events will open their doors only every two years for three days. According to Bettina Schall, this step is intended to provide the industry with greater value and efficiency. Both exhibitors and visitors are expected to benefit from this adjustment. This decision was also driven by the fact that many companies have expressed that the current situation and the resulting pressures on day-to-day business make a change in the event schedule desirable, Schall stated. Companies today have to manage their resources prudently, as there is a widespread shortage of staff and a need to reduce costs. Additionally, time for business trips has become scarce. All this has to be reconciled with the trade fair schedule. Therefore, the fairs will no longer take place this year and annually as previously planned, but only in even-numbered years from now on, even though the website may still suggest otherwise.

In terms of presentation structure, nothing will change at Motek and Bondexpo

As Ms. Schall assures, the proven thematic portfolio of both trade fairs will remain unchanged. Therefore, the entire process chain for economical production and assembly automation (from components and assemblies to subsystems and complete systems) will continue to be represented. The target audience is thus cross-industry. And the nowadays indispensable adhesive technology in manufacturing, which represents a key and future-oriented industry, uniquely complements Motek with Bondexpo. A special addition to the thematic portfolio will come in 2026 through close cooperation with Vision, which addresses production-relevant systems for image recognition and processing, as Schall further explains. This will allow visitors to look forward to a truly comprehensive event from October 6 to 8, 2026.

Trade fairs remain the most important networking platforms for the capital goods sector

In addition to the traditional exhibition in the halls, the well-established startup area will also be prepared again, along with a themed and target audience-focused supporting program that complements a successful trade fair visit, supports networking, and allows the establishment of new business contacts, as Bettina Schall adds. This includes, for example, a lecture forum, a specialized congress, and other formats that support knowledge transfer into industrial practice and promote communication among all participants on equal footing. The fact remains that trade fairs, especially in the capital goods sector, are and will remain the most important business platforms because they are the best way to forge and maintain personal contacts. The Schall team, therefore, aims to place the traditional Motek/Bondexpo trade fair duo on a modern foundation. This is now being worked on together with all partners and stakeholders. The 43rd Motek will then launch alongside the 18th Bondexpo in 2026 with renewed energy.
