The TETHYS IP65 family of safety relays from Zander Aachen consists of the TETHYS IP65 SR safety relay and the TETHYS IP65 KR secure coupling relay. The relays are protected against dust and jet water (IP65), which allows them to be used directly on the machine. The housing effectively serves as a mini control cabinet and does not require additional protection.

Both variants support all the features of the base models SR3C and SK3D and have been updated with the latest security standards. The enhanced isolation between the NO release current paths themselves and to SELV networks according to EN 60664-1, overvoltage category III, guarantees the highest safety and flexibility in use. Thanks to the integrated signaling contact (NC) and the 24-V-DC semiconductor signaling output, the user is always informed about the operating state.

The manual start input responds exclusively to falling edges, which allows for perfect monitoring of the start button and maximum safety against unintentional start commands.

The safety relay is equipped with an internal, secure overcurrent monitoring system that allows the connection of tactile sensors such as safety mats and strips. Together with classic OSSD sensors and emergency stop buttons, comprehensive area monitoring can also be achieved (SIL3 according to IEC 61508 and PLe according to ISO 13849-1).

The coupling relay also meets SIL3 and PLe. Both variants are additionally certified according to EN 50156-1 and are therefore suitable for use in firing systems.

By default, both versions are equipped with M12A- and M12S-coded connectors, compatible with IO-Link and common emergency stop buttons. The modular internal structures allow for a customer-specific connector configuration.

With the possibility of decentralized placement and the IP65 certification, the family is suitable for the requirements of Industry 4.0. The relays promote the decentralization and networking of machines and systems, thus contributing to the increase in efficiency and flexibility of your production environment.

For the first time, the relays will be on display at the all about automation in Düsseldorf on 1 and 2 October 2024 (Booth 520) and at the SPS from 12 to 14 November in Nuremberg (Hall 7, Booth 191). (kr)
