The French Ministry of Defense has reportedly asked the Renault Group to put its expertise at the service of the development of a French drone industry. This was stated by a Renault spokesperson. Under the auspices of the Directorate-General for Armaments, the player, which is actually known for its cars, will work on the project with the French company Turgis Gaillard, which has already designed a drone for the military. Renault did not provide any further details about the drone production. However, the company has the appropriate and much sought-after know-how for the design, industrialization and series production of high-tech systems—also with regard to meeting quality, cost and deadline requirements. French media reported that the aim is to develop remote-controlled long-range drones that can both engage targets and carry out reconnaissance missions. It is also reported that around 600 drones are to be produced every month. The contract initially involves a financial volume of around $41,000,000. For Renault, however, the whole thing could become a billion-dollar business over the next ten years.
