Currently, Becker observes a clear trend among customer inquiries toward complete systems. The reasons for this are varied, and the requirements for the supplier are just as individual as they are complex. According to Becker, the benefits of ordering an energy chain as a system rather than in individual parts become evident when looking closely at the still often standard practice. "In the machinery and plant engineering sector, workplaces are frequently set up where two to three people equip and pre-assemble the chains with cables before they are integrated into the machine," explains Jochen Becker. "With Totaltrax, we take care of that. The customer not only frees up two employees who can be deployed elsewhere but also gains several square meters of additional space."
And it’s not just the machinery and plant engineering sectors that can benefit from Totaltrax systems. While customers were almost exclusively from the machine tool industry ten years ago, Tsubaki Kabelschlepp has significantly expanded the application range of its system concept since then. Today, Totaltrax can be found in harbor cranes as well as milking robots and numerous other applications. "Other industries, too, are now recognizing the advantage of no longer assembling the chain meter, cables, plugs, and internal layout themselves when a complete system is available instead—in the desired quantity, within the agreed time, and at the agreed price," emphasizes Jochen Becker. "Process pressure, time pressure, and cost pressure are currently growing exponentially, and our customers are correspondingly eager to find partners who can help alleviate this pressure. With our Totaltrax systems, that's exactly what we do."
Huge Toolbox Without Material Dogma
When configuring customer-specific Totaltrax systems, Tsubaki Kabelschlepp fundamentally relies on all its energy chain series and components. This provides a vast toolkit from which an optimal solution can be generated for virtually any requirement. A particular advantage: there is also flexibility in the available materials. Depending on the application and environmental conditions, steel, plastic, or hybrid chains can be used. The latter combine plastic sidebands with aluminum profiles and cover any desired width in millimeter increments.
"In comparison to the industry, we have one of the broadest portfolios to draw from," explains Jochen Becker. "This gives us the ability to offer many size and width variants—completely without a material dogma. Our customers can find everything from small plastic chains to XXL steel chains and everything in between. Our Totaltrax systems range from simple to complex, from single production to large quantities, with or without connector assemblies, sheet metal, and add-on components, as single- or multi-axis systems. Everything is possible."

"Everything starts with the installation space," describes Jochen Becker about the approach. "There is a specific installation space scenario, and our Totaltrax system has to fit into it. We then work out the optimal solution together with the customer. We determine the best arrangement, how environmental influences can be mitigated, and so on. For this, our application engineering team dives deep into the project, works closely with the customer on the details, and ultimately provides proposals for a feasible solution."
