The drone company Quantum System from Gilching near Munich has secured a further $178 million USD in financing, as we have now learned. The dominant lender in the current round is the European Investment Bank EIB, which alone is providing $83 million USD of the total. In addition, the German government-owned KFW, Commerzbank and Deutsche Bank are also involved, it is reported. The main investor is the British venture capitalist Balderton Capital. According to the drone manufacturer, the agreement is intended to underline the fact that critical security infrastructure in Europe simply has to be financed in order to stay ahead of the game.

Quantum Systems is Not Attractive for Nothing

Quantum Systems has so far specialized in reconnaissance and surveillance drones, which can be used for both military and more civilian tasks. Due to the booming demand for military equipment, the valuation of the Gilching-based drone specialists has exceeded the three billion mark ($1.9 billion USD). For those who don't know, the company's drones have been in use in Ukraine since 2022. The latest thing they have up their sleeve is an interception system that can detect attacks or jamming flights by enemy drones and announce them in good time. What makes Quantum Systems so attractive to investors is that, unlike many start-ups, the company is profitable. The company also has larger production capacities in Germany, Ukraine, Australia and the USA.
