The basic platform for vehicle software should support several system-on-chips and later be open for open source contributions. The pre-integrated modules can reduce the effort for users.

QNX, Vector and TTTech Auto announced a multi-year global cooperation project at the CES 2025 in Las Vegas. Together, the companies want to develop a fundamental software platform for vehicles. According to a press release, this should put an end to the laborious and costly process of software integration.

The core of the software platform will be developed and managed by QNX and Vector. The two companies want to combine their expertise in operating systems and middleware. Development and test tools from Vector will complement the offering. TTTech Auto, which will be part of NXP in the future, will contribute its expertise in task and communication planning.

Functional safety level ASIL D planned

The platform—certified in accordance with ISO 26262 ASIL D and ISO 21434—is intended to support several system-on-chips. After the release, the company will be open to contributions from other players in the ecosystem and from open source initiatives. Further details on general availability are to be announced in the 2026 financial year.

"Our customers invest a lot of time in integrating various software components of a vehicle platform and maintaining them throughout the vehicle's life cycle," says Matthias Traub, President and CEO of Vector, describing the initial situation. The new platform is designed to integrate parts of the software in advance. In this way, "we can drastically reduce the effort for OEMs and ultimately shorten their time to market".
