Following the world premiere in mid-November 2025, production of the Porsche Cayenne Electric has now also started in Bratislava. This takes place in line with the models that have both a combustion engine and a hybrid drive. In order to build up and expand the company's own battery expertise in a targeted manner, battery modules developed in-house are used in the vehicle.

The new Cayenne Electric impresses with a number of advantages such as an output of up to 850 kW (1,156 hp), the largest screen area of any Porsche to date and the high reaction speed of the Porsche Communication Management (PCM). The battery modules developed in-house also play an important role, as they are seen as a key competence for electromobility.

Together with Porsche Werkzeugbau, the sports car manufacturer has set up the Porsche Smart Battery Shop, a production site for battery modules, in Horná Streda, Slovakia. The close cooperation with the subsidiary was crucial in this process. This made it possible to transfer expertise from prototype production to series production. In a precisely controlled process of cell preparation, stacking, laser welding, foaming, cooling plate integration and end-of-line testing, the modules are produced under complete quality control.

Double-Sided Battery Cooling

With a gross energy content of 113 kWh, high energy density and large pouch cells, the Stromer's function-integrated high-voltage battery enables ranges of more than 600 kilometers (~370 miles) and supports 800-volt fast charging. The double-sided cooling is innovative: two cooling plates cool or heat the high-voltage battery from above and below as required. This allows the optimum temperature window to be achieved more effectively.

Direct Communication Exchange

The Volkswagen Group's multi-brand site in Devínska Nová Ves has been expanded for the production of the electric SUV. At the heart of the conversion work is a new platform hall. The skateboard-like chassis is being built here and will be supplemented with side panels, roof, doors, hood and tailgate in the next stages. These body attachments come from the press shop.

To ensure seamless cooperation, a small group of employees from Dr. Ing. F. Porsche is permanently present at the Bratislava plant. They take up current challenges directly, bring them into the Porsche organization and thus ensure a quick exchange in the environment of a new vehicle start-up. (se)
