For the next generation of humanoid robotics, Nvidia has introduced Groot. Project Groot is a general base model for humanoid robots developed by Nvidia to enable robots to learn faster through simulations and with information from the real world.

For faster learning of robot systems, Nvidia has developed the computing platform Jetson Thor: Based on the Thor System-on-a-Chip (SoC), this platform performs complex tasks and is capable of safely interacting with machines through natural language.

Jetson Thor trains humanoid robots

Jetson Thor has a modular architecture. The system is optimized for performance, energy efficiency, and size. The SoC contains a next-generation GPU based on Nvidia's Blackwell architecture. Moreover, there is a Transformer engine that provides 800 teraflops of 8-bit floating-point AI performance. This enables the execution of multimodal generative AI models for Groot.

By integrating Jetson Thor into robot platforms, developers can create AI-based robots capable of perceiving their environment in multiple dimensions and autonomously performing complex tasks such as grasping, cutting, grinding, welding, and inspecting.

The platform also offers the possibility to analyze and intelligently process sensor data in real time, leading to improved interaction between robots and their environment. To train humanoid robots, Nvidia offers Isaac Manipulator and Isaac Perceptor: a collection of pre-trained robot models, libraries, and reference hardware. Isaac Manipulator helps developers automate a larger number of new robot tasks.

Perceptor is a collection of hardware-accelerated packages for visual AI, specifically developed for Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMR). Nvida has integrated features for multi-camera and 3D surround sound into Perceptor. This allows industrial robots to safely interact with equipment and people in the factory.
