AI-Supported System Reduces Energy Costs By 30%
Compressed air generation is energy-intensive. Many conventional control systems are not designed to adjust in real-time to fluctuating compressed air demand. Compair has introduced the dynamic, AI-based compressed air management system Ecoplant for managing compressed air systems. According to the provider, it adjusts compressor settings in real-time, reducing energy and CO₂ costs by up to 30 percent. Ecoplant uses dynamic, AI-based control instead of static regulation, monitors key metrics across the entire network, and adjusts compressor setpoints accordingly while selecting the optimal operating mode. It also identifies leaks to then isolate them. The cloud-based management solution offers predictive maintenance and proactive SAAS analytics to monitor the system remotely.
Fast And Safe Venting for Pneumatic Emergencies
The safety vent valve ensures quick venting in emergencies.
(Image: SMC Germany)
Pneumatically controlled systems must be quickly vented in the event of an emergency stop to avoid posing a safety hazard. Multiple components are often used for this, resulting in valuable time until complete venting. With the VPX400 series, SMC has developed a multifunctional single solution.
The safety exhaust valve ensures rapid venting, with two internal valves being monitored to provide double redundancy. The certified product complies with the requirements of ISO standard 13849-1 in categories 3 or 4 and can be used alongside the control of the compressed air supply to enable a soft-start function. This allows users to precisely limit the flow of air supplied by the valve to prevent sudden movements in pneumatic systems. Additionally, the safety exhaust valve can be directly integrated into the modular AC-D series maintenance units from SMC, including filters, pressure regulators, and flow meters.
With venting flow rates of 370 to 530 cubic feet per minute (SCFM), the valve quickly reduces the risks of residual compressed air in the event of an emergency stop scenario. This is due to a large effective cross-section for ports 2 and 3, enabling rapid pressure reduction.
Radial Piston Motor With Extra Leakage Protection
The new motor offers particularly long service life.
(Source: Danfoss Power Solutions)
Danfoss Power Solutions has announced the launch of its Thorx CLM 5C radial piston motor. The CLM 5C hydraulic motor was developed for drum drives in road rollers and other compaction machines, complementing the S-motors for skid steer loaders and the T-motors for compact track loaders in the Thorx product range. The motor features a robust, innovative design aimed at eliminating leaks, enabling the production of smoother road surfaces, reducing maintenance issues, and extending component lifespan. The motor has an overall efficiency of 92 percent, which reduces heat generation and extends the life of components such as seals and bearings. It is interchangeable with other radial piston motors in drum drives for easy integration.
The Thorx motor features two robust tapered roller bearings that prevent shaft deflection and thereby eliminate hydraulic oil leakage at the shaft seal. This configuration withstands higher loads compared to radial piston motors with ball bearings and offers a longer lifespan. The symmetrical rotation group of the Thorx motor ensures smoother rotation at low speeds, resulting in improved and more even road surfaces.
Compact Unit Now Offers More Flexibility
The second generation of the intelligent compact unit CytroPac 2X sets new standards in productivity, energy efficiency, and user convenience.

Bosch Rexroth has further developed the compact unit Cytro Pac based on customer feedback, offering greater flexibility. In addition to the filter module for return flow cleaning, the plug-and-play solution is now optionally available with a leakage oil module, which returns larger flow volumes almost pressure-free and significantly reduces air intake. As another option, the manufacturer offers a valve module for attaching control blocks, enabling hydraulic control functions to be implemented quickly and easily using intermediate plates. Thanks to its modular design, the second generation of the compact unit is particularly well-suited for machine tools and plastic injection molding. A UL-certified variant is available for the North American market.
The technical innovations include improved heat exchange through a special aluminum cooling plate. The integrated frequency converter often eliminates the need for a control cabinet, greatly simplifying engineering. The integrated motor-pump combination has also been optimized: compared to conventional compact units of the same performance, up to 80 percent of energy can be saved while operating more quietly. New in the area of connectivity is an MQ15 Ethernet connection for data exchange; the M12 power connection is now standard.

Filter Cartridge Housing for High Flow Rates
The housings are primarily used in industrial water treatment, parts cleaning, and pre-treatment in hydrogen production.
(Image: Eaton)
High filtration performance in challenging industrial applications, even at high flow rates—this is what Eaton's new Topcart HF filter cartridge housings are designed for. The single-cartridge version is equipped with filter baskets in lengths of 20" or 40". Multi-cartridge housings are available in configurations for 4, 7, or 11 filter cartridges. The 20" version is exclusively available in the 4-cartridge configuration and is vertically oriented. The 40" and 60" versions are available in all multi-cartridge configurations and are horizontally oriented to ensure easy and ergonomic cartridge replacement. All variants of the filter cartridge housings allow a maximum operating pressure of 145 psi and temperatures of up to 250°F. They are each designed for use with Eaton's high-performance Lofpleat HF filter cartridges.
The main application areas of the housings are industrial water treatment, parts cleaning, and pretreatment in hydrogen production. "The high flow rates typical for these applications would require a large number of standard filter cartridges, which always pose a certain contamination risk on the filtrate side during removal. To prevent this and generally reduce the number of filter elements, the housings with high-flow cartridges utilize bag filtration principles but with the performance of filter cartridges," explains Ulrich Latz, Product Manager in the Filtration Division of the manufacturer.
