Mercedes-Benz is giving its compact SUV series, the GLA and GLB, a refresh. The 2024 model year can be identified by new lighting graphics, new colors, and wheel sizes. In addition, the grille and front bumper have been slightly modified. Inside, all equipment lines will now come standard with a leather steering wheel, comfort seats, high beam assist, USB package, and a rearview camera.

GLA and GLB offer a dual-display cockpit in all variants. The screen behind the steering wheel is available in 7 or 10.25 inches, and the central touchscreen is 10.25 inches. With the activation of online services from the "Mercedes me" app, the voice assistant is expected to be more conversational and adaptive. In the future, games like Sudoku can also be downloaded and controlled via the interfaces of the MBUX infotainment system.

The optional Burmester audio system now supports Dolby Atmos. With the park package, the SUVs will now be able to parallel park. The GLB is available with a trailer maneuvering assistant. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now be wirelessly integrated from smartphones.

Minor changes to the engines

The engine lineup has been slightly revised for both series. There are three power levels for diesel engines, ranging from 85 kW/116 hp to 140 kW/190 hp. In addition to an AMG version, there are five petrol engines available with power ranging from 100 kW/136 hp to 225 kW/306 hp. The petrol engines are expected to consume less fuel and provide a noticeable electric boost during acceleration thanks to the new 48-volt mild-hybrid technology.

The GLA's exclusive plug-in hybrid version 250e can now achieve 70 kilometers electric range thanks to the increase in usable energy content. The electric motor, now strengthened to 80 kW, is expected to provide improved performance.

The start of ordering for both SUV series will follow shortly. Prices are expected to increase slightly with the model update. The base versions were recently priced at around 35,000 euros (GLA) and 41,000 euros (GLB).
