Magna has received an order for its "Dedicated Hybrid Drive Duo System" (DHD Duo) from a Chinese automaker. The supplier plans to start series production in the third quarter of 2025. The system will be manufactured at Magna's plant in Nanchang, China.

The DHD Duo is based on a dual electric motor concept and offers a longitudinally oriented front-wheel drive with multiple gears. Equipped with an 800-volt system, it is designed to provide a comfortable driving experience under various conditions. The DHD Duo system features an integrated claw clutch, enabling straightforward integration into passenger cars and commercial vehicles. The company cites a wide application range, spanning from the B-segment to the E-segment, including SUVs, pickups, and minibuses.The drive system enables flexible transitions between P1+P3, P2+P3, and range extender configurations and supports electric, serial, and parallel driving modes.
