Horn USA has integrated a state-of-the-art coating line with two CC800 HiPIMS into its production process. This allows the precision tool manufacturer to quickly supply US customers with customized solutions for their individual requirements.

Precision tools for demanding machining operations of the highest quality and with short delivery times: What others fail to achieve is Horn's trademark. To ensure this worldwide, powerful productions with cutting-edge technology are needed globally—especially in key markets like the USA. At the headquarters in Tübingen (Germany), the unique HiPIMS technology from CemeCon has long been a cornerstone of Horn's success. Since 2004, Horn USA has had its precision tools coated by the experts at CemeCon, Inc. Now the production in Franklin is to be expanded and enhanced with its own coating expertise to "support" the US market quickly and efficiently with fully optimized products.

We knew: If we switched to our own coating production, we had to manufacture the same coatings that were delivered by CemeCon from day one. We had to produce the same quality as before with CemeCon's coating service and be able to simply duplicate the new products from Tübingen in the USA. This meant we needed the same technological capabilities as in Germany. And the training to not only integrate the coating technology into US production but also to fully exploit its potential.

Horn found a solution with its long-term partner CemeCon. Horn invested in a turnkey coating line—consisting of two HiPIMS coating systems, substrate pre- and post-treatment, and all necessary additional peripheral systems—with technology "made in Germany" and training "made in the USA".

"During training at our coating center in Horseheads or on-site with the customer, we pass on our knowledge and experience. The training is identical for customers and our own employees. We know from personal experience that our training quickly and reliably imparts the know-how to successfully master the coating process.
