The UK plans to build at least six new factories for the production of ammunition, announced the Ministry of Defence in London. The armed forces are also set to receive more weapons with greater range. Additionally, the government aims to launch a good dozen new attack submarines to ensure the country's long-term security. This initiative was prompted by Russia's unlawful invasion of Ukraine, which harshly demonstrated that a military is only as strong as the industry behind it. By strengthening this industry, potential adversaries are to be deterred, making the country safer and more resilient. The ministry stated that it is advisable to establish ammunition production that can be rapidly scaled up when needed. However, it remains unclear when the factories will be established. Prime Minister Keir Starmer noted that the Kremlin is working hand in hand with its "cronies" in Iran and North Korea. The UK faces cyberattacks every day. "The best way to prevent a conflict is to prepare for one," Starmer said. The country also plans to gradually increase defense spending over the next ten years.
