More and more companies are leaving the concept phase behind and using artificial intelligence in a targeted manner to gain a competitive edge. However, good strategic planning and a well thought-out implementation concept are essential for the success of AI projects.

It is crucial to focus on the core areas that offer the greatest business value and to build an infrastructure that enables both efficiency and scalability. It is equally important that companies keep a close eye on the latest developments in AI to identify the areas that are relevant to them.According to Dell Technologies, the following topics will dominate the market in 2025:

AI creates Measurable Business Added Value

While 2024 was characterized by experimentation with generative AI, 2025 will be the year of transition to broad application in practice. Studies by IDC show that 30% of European companies are already using GenAI-based solutions and services in production environments. Around 40 percent want to invest heavily in generative AI, with the focus in the next 18 months being primarily on training, GenAI-supported software and consulting services.

Industries such as healthcare, finance and logistics are particularly ripe for the transition from pilot projects to scaled applications. To generate real business value, companies should focus on developing customized AI applications that solve real business problems. This in turn requires investment in training, software and consulting as well as a clear AI strategy to stay ahead of the competition.

AI PCs are Redefining the World of Work

In 2025, AI-enabled computers will mark a turning point in the world of work. These devices will combine classic PC functions with hardware and software designed for AI-based applications. This may include the integration of special processors such as GPU, TPU or NPU, AI-optimized operating systems or dedicated machine learning functions.

The benefits for users are obvious: AI automates repetitive tasks, optimizes workflows and provides tools that promote creativity and efficiency. This ranges from smarter search functions and office applications to dynamic adjustment of frame rates and audio quality and real-time translations. The PC is no longer just a tool, but a real partner in everyday digital life.

Disaggregated Data Centers are Replacing Traditional IT

Analysts assume that by 2025, most AI models, specifically up to 95 percent, will focus on inferencing, i.e. the use of AI for fast and efficient decision-making in real time. This change requires not just an upgrade, but completely new approaches to IT.

Conventional data centers, which are reaching their limits here, are increasingly being replaced by disaggregated architectures. This refers to an IT infrastructure in which the individual components of a server—such as processors, memory, storage devices and networks—are no longer permanently installed in physical systems. Instead, the resources are kept in independent pools that can be accessed dynamically. This enables highly flexible scaling of computing, storage and network capacities. At the same time, sustainable approaches are becoming increasingly important in view of rising energy costs. Liquid cooling, workload management tools and diversified energy sources are key technologies for meeting increasing requirements.

Autonomous AI Agents Replace "Dumb" Systems

AI agents are one of the most exciting developments in artificial intelligence and will fundamentally change the world of work. In contrast to traditional tools such as virtual assistants and chatbots, which merely take instructions and respond to them, AI agents are characterized by their autonomy. They act independently, make decisions and carry out tasks using the appropriate tools without the need for constant human intervention. In short, they adapt dynamically to changing requirements.

The possible applications are therefore almost unlimited. An AI agent in customer service, for example, analyzes incoming inquiries, identifies the best solution and independently takes over processing from information gathering to the final answer. Gartner assumes that a third of all generative AI interactions will be handled by such agents by 2028.

The pace of innovation in artificial intelligence offers companies enormous opportunities. In order to take advantage of these, managers should focus on four key areas in the new year:

  1. First of all, companies need to develop a clear AI strategy.

  2. The next step was to modernize the tech stack to meet the requirements for a robust infrastructure with scalable resources.

  3. It is equally important to focus more on sustainable technologies in order to combine economic efficiency with ecological responsibility.

  4. And finally, tools such as AI agents must enable employees to concentrate on strategic tasks.

Successful AI initiatives are based on foresight, a clear infrastructure strategy and the willingness to continuously invest in knowledge and adaptability.
