The new battery center in Pickens County in the northwest of the US state of South Carolina is intended to contribute to the implementation of ElringKlinger's transformation strategy SHAPE30. "The American market basically offers great potential for e-mobility applications, we have already received a first high-volume series nomination. In order to tap into this potential, the state of South Carolina is an excellent starting point for establishing a Battery Center Americas, as discussions with Governor McMaster also underscored yesterday", explains Thomas Jessulat, CEO of the company.

Start in mid-2025

ElringKlinger will initially manufacture cell contacting systems for a first customer. Initially, the center will cover an area of 21,000 m², with expansion areas available. The site is to be gradually developed into ElringKlinger's battery center for the American market in the coming years. Activities at the new location are planned to start in mid-2025.

Pickens County, with Easley as its largest city, is centrally located on the axis between Atlanta, GA, and Charlotte, NC, in the northwest of the U.S. state of South Carolina. Automotive locations are in the immediate vicinity. Renowned universities such as Clemson University ensure a high level of qualification in the technical field on the regional labor market.
