The tech billionaire has now announced that the Tesla Group led by Elon Musk will be offering humanoid robots for sale in the foreseeable future. The robots, named Optimus, are already carrying out simple tasks in the electric car manufacturer's production facilities, as he announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos. Musk believes that the machines will probably be ready for sale to the public by the end of next year. But first they need to be absolutely reliable and safe to do their jobs. In Davos, Musk reiterated his prediction that there will be more robots than people in the world over time—and that they will fulfill "all human needs". His vision: to be able to ask these machines to do anything you want. (Hopefully they will also know Asimov's three laws of robotics ...)

The Predictions of Elon Musk

However, Musk also predicted that by the end of the year or 2027, there will be software with artificial intelligence (AI) that is smarter than any human being. And in five years' time, AI will probably be smarter than the entire human race. In his view, the biggest limitation on the pace of development of this type of AI is simply the available electricity. Musk primarily promoted solar power as the solution. Tesla is also active in this area. But Musk also has to reckon with other AI developers, such as the "ChatGPT" inventor "OpenAI". However, Musk's AI software Grok is currently being criticized because it could be used to depict women in bikinis or lingerie. After the authorities took action, his company "xAI" restricted the possibilities. But, for all his predictions and visions: The Tesla boss is also known for setting deadlines that he is later unable to meet.
