MHP is expanding its portfolio of Industrial Cloud Solutions, or "ICS", with the newly introduced Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product "bolt_it". According to the announcement, the management and IT consultancy is thus taking the next step in optimising production processes and quality assurance in manufacturing.

"A large part of the value added in assembly is based on screwing processes," says product manager Jochen Mall. Current challenges are primarily the late detection of problems, high effort for manual rework or the analysis of faulty parts, as well as the lack of knowledge transfer to avoid similar problems in the future.

The software "bolt_it" can monitor process data and detect anomalies early by analyzing historical data. "The process control is based on guidelines, expert knowledge and known errors," explains Mall. An AI evaluates the data and sends the results to quality engineers as well as factory and production staff.

This could result in cost and time savings and transparent data insights could lead to higher quality in production. In addition, four further add-ons to expand functionality are being developed, including error classification and process recommendation for the employee.

Up to 70 percent less rework

Anomaly detection was tested on an assembly line at Porsche. Quality defects were significantly reduced using "bolt_it". "Our solution offers up to seven times higher detection of process anomalies - screwing processes require up to 70 percent less rework," emphasizes Jochen Mall. In addition, approximately 90 minutes per week are saved for manual data analysis and parameter optimization per production line.

According to the announcement, the software is compatible with all common industrial electric tools and provides a manufacturer-independent and customer-specific overview of the process data via a web-based user interface, thereby creating a closed-loop effect.

After the premiere of the Industrial Cloud Solutions business field last year, MHP is now presenting "bolt_it", the sixth ICS product, from April 22 to 26 in Hanover this year.
