The new manual change system CMS from Schunk is the optimal addition for flexible tasks in manufacturing, handling technology or at assembly workstations. It enables a fast, process-safe change at the robot frontend or even on stationary systems like in fixture construction. The manually operated system consists of a change head CMS-K and a change adapter CMS-A and handles payloads of up to 58 kg. It can be flexibly combined with handling or machining components from the extensive Schunk portfolio - from grippers to machining tools from the R-EMENDO range, for example for automated deburring, polishing or filing.

The CMS is the further development of the SHS exchange system already established in the Schunk portfolio and can replace it 1:1 thanks to the same construction height and the same mounting patterns. The successor version now offers decisive optimizations in terms of operation, construction, process safety, and usage possibilities.

Quick and process-safe change

The operation of the CMS is incredibly simple and comfortable thanks to proven thrust lever technology. The change head can be locked with the change adapter by hand and without any additional tools. New integrated air ducts via sealing pins with cylinder compressions support manual locking, so that only minimal effort is required. In addition, the thrust lever has a new, cranked shape that does not cover any of the numerous connections. This means that all system connections can now also be used radially.

A spring-loaded locking pin provides more operational safety by fixing the hand lever to the housing and preventing the system from opening during operation. The integrated query sensor system adds additional operational and a plus in process safety, which allows an inductive query of the locking status and the presence of tools with optional sensors. Thanks to the ISO flange image, the CMS can be mounted on all common robot types without an additional adapter plate.

Wide range of option modules and end effectors

Various end effectors such as grippers or machining tools can be supplied with compressed air or vacuum via integrated pneumatic feedthroughs. In addition, energy supply is now possible in a space-saving and weight-saving manner via directly screw-on electrical, pneumatic and fluid modules. Alternatively, Schunk also offers a cheaper, identically constructed basic version CMS-B without pneumatic feedthroughs.

The manual change system CMS is available in six sizes from 40 to 125. In addition to a wide variety of combination and application possibilities, users benefit from the comprehensive application knowledge of the complete automation provider.
