Connecting motors and drive controllers, especially over long distances, has previously required costly and difficult to install cables. Current servo motors are heavy and require a lot of installation space, also due to the encoders required and mounted on the motor. When vertically moving heavy loads, drives must additionally be equipped with a reliable braking and blocking device to safely avoid dangers to objects and people. Stöber has realized some groundbreaking innovations in this regard.

Only one cable.

Minimising investment and installation effort: the One-Cable-Solution, developed by Stöber in collaboration with Heidenhain.

Connecting motors and drive controllers far apart with just one cable is made possible with the One Cable Solution (OCS) developed by Stöber. The drive specialist has now optimized this together with Heidenhain, a manufacturer of high-quality encoders. With the future-proof protocol Endat 3, the cable can not only bridge this distance securely, but also transmit signals without expensive output choke, interference-free from the motor to the drive controller over up to 50 m. For example, this is achieved between a drive controller and a highly economical planetary gear motor. Its gear is helical, so it operates quietly and energy efficiently.

Light, efficient, compact

Smaller, lighter and slimmer than an asynchronous motor is an encoderless Lean motor. It uses energy much more efficiently. The Stöber motor is classified as IE5. This compact drive, equipped with the SC6 drive controller, is much more economical in terms of investment and installation than a standard servo motor. The combination of this drive controller and the innovative motor is particularly advantageous for driving energy-efficient transport systems.

Drive controllers of the SC6 and SI6 series have now been supplemented with additional functions for the Profinet data connection. The specialist thus supports the drive connection according to the AC1, AC3 and AC4 Profidrive application classes when implementing motion control applications. With the currently presented SU6 module, the controllers also offer an attractive solution for STO and SS1-t via the Profisafe safety protocol. The drive controllers are thus suitable for safety-critical systems up to SIL 3, PL e, category 4. The functionality of the communication interfaces of both controllers is also certified by the Profinet association.

Securely stop vertically moved loads: Servo geared motors with planetary gear and integrated second brake.

Vertical axes and their loads can fall due to gravity, endangering people. To prevent this, vertical axes are usually secured by brakes. However, contamination or wear can greatly impair the braking effect. Therefore, it is necessary to safely monitor the condition of the brakes and maintain their functionality. For this purpose, Stöber provides servo planetary gearboxes of the PH series. These transmit torques and rotations extremely accurately. In addition, they work energy-efficiently. The drive specialist equips the combination of servo motor and gearbox with the additional brake Servostop. Due to the integration directly into the adapter, which is between the gearbox and motor, in addition to the motor holding brake, a very compact second brake for redundantly equipped and thus safe drives is available.
