Bosch Rexroth and AMD are working together to deliver ctrlX OS on AMD Embedded x86 processors and adaptive SoCs. This will enable the operating system to be used on a wider range of industrial devices, including IPCs, mini PCs, HMI panels, COM Express and edge systems.

According to the companies, the combination of AMD hardware and ctrlX OS should enable greater flexibility in the design of automation solutions. The Linux-based operating system from Bosch Rexroth has a modular structure, is real-time capable and can be operated independently of proprietary hardware on different embedded processor systems.

Ryzen embedded processors, EPYC embedded CPUs and adaptive SoCs from the Zynq UltraScale+ family are supported, among others. This expands the hardware base for applications in embedded control and industrial edge computing. In addition, access to the ctrlX OS ecosystem with applications, device management and support structures will be facilitated.

Bosch Rexroth also refers to the system's security functions such as secure over-the-air updates, device management and certification in accordance with IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2. Both companies plan to present the integration of ctrlX OS on AMD platforms at Embedded World 2026 (AMD stand, Hall 5-135).(sg)
