In our product overview for the second quarter of 2026, we present five innovations in connection technology: from high-performance terminal blocks to outdoor fiber optic cabling, robust Micro-D connectors, multiport RF coaxial connectors, and heavy-duty components.
Connector review: Product highlights in summer 2026 range from outdoor connectors to terminal blocks to industrial connectors.

R&M (Reichle & De-Massari AG) is expanding its portfolio for outdoor fiber optic cabling based on HEC-QR connectivity (headline image). Currently available is the compact pre-terminated fiber optic distribution box LUNAR. It enables the construction of fiber optic networks using the plug-and-play method. The fiber optic distribution box is available in three sizes, up to a width of 200 mm, for up to twelve ports. The cables are connected using the outdoor quick-lock connector HEC-QR.
This combination enables a plug-and-play configuration, where the pre-terminated box is installed and connected with outdoor connectors if needed. Thanks to the modular approach, configurations for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint networks with splitter and fanout cabling, as well as LC, SC, and MPO interfaces, are possible. The products meet the criteria of protection class IP68 and the IEC and Telcordia GR-771 approval.
Phoenix Contact has expanded the XT product range with terminal blocks in a nominal cross-section of 4 mm². This enables continuous tool-free wiring for conductor cross-sections from 0.34 to 25 mm². The feed-through terminal blocks feature Push-X technology: they allow the wiring of all conductor types, whether rigid or flexible, even without a ferrule.
The factory-preloaded contact spring ensures high user comfort and simplifies the connection of conductors. Additional safety is provided by the clear visual and acoustic identification of the conductor connection. The connected conductor can be easily released using the orange actuator button. With a nominal current of 32 A and a nominal voltage of 500 V, the XT 4 terminal blocks are suitable for both manual and automated wiring processes.
Powell Electronics offers the robust Micro-D connectors from Winchester. The SMD components provide a mechanically and electrically secure interface that is resistant to high vibration, shock, and other environmental stresses, making them the choice for high-reliability applications in aerospace, defense, medical technology, and industry.
The compact rectangular connectors with multiple rows of precision-manufactured pins or sockets are available in various pin counts and configurations. The contact resistance is 8 milliohms (2.5 A). The current rating is specified at 3 A, and the dielectric strength is 600 V AC at sea level and 150 V AC at an altitude of 21 km (13 miles). The leakage current is limited to 1 mA. The insulation resistance is specified at 5,000 megohms at 500 V DC.

Molex claims to have set a new industry standard for test and measurement equipment with the introduction of its Cardinal Series Multi-Port High-Frequency Coaxial Assemblies. The product supports frequencies up to 145 GHz, optimized for minimal insertion loss and excellent return loss at extreme frequencies. This enables the measurement of signals previously beyond the capabilities of standard coaxial connectors. A simple upgrade from 110 GHz testing to 145 GHz environments is thus possible.
Data rates of up to 448 Gbit/s and more than 500 mating cycles are supported. The series offers vertical, right-angled, and edge PCB connectors as well as scalable multiport configurations, including 1×4, 1×8, and 2×8 for high-density setups. Application areas include upcoming AI clusters, 5G/6G infrastructure, satellite communication, mmWave radar applications, and THz imaging.
Harting has revised the Han-Yellock (power contacts 16 A) for easier handling: The previous design, combining black, melon yellow, rounded contours, and zinc die-cast elements, remains unchanged. Updates have been made to the handling: Gentle pressure on the buttons is sufficient to release the connector's locking mechanism. Slim, circumferential double-lip seals on the mounted and carrier housing ensure reduced locking forces.
An audible "click" indicates that the locking process is complete. The cable side is divided, allowing for both front-fit and rear-fit. The interface does not need to be disconnected for a visual inspection of the connection side. Contacts and potentials can be multiplied using plug-in modules. 25 different coding options ensure that each interface is installed in the intended position. Assembly times are accelerated by snapping in Han-Modular modules and Han-Yellock monoblocks.
